MS in Finance Program Hits No. 1 in U.S.
The Texas Master of Science in Finance is tops among U.S. programs in the latest ranking by Financial Times
The Texas Master of Science in Finance (MSF) at the McCombs School of Business leads the nation in the Financial Times (FT) 2021 ranking of MSF pre-experience degrees worldwide.
McCombs has been steadily rising in the annual ranking since first participating in 2017 when the Texas MSF came in eighth among U.S. schools. The intensive 10-month program rose to seventh in 2018 and sixth in 2020, before leaping to first place this year. FT suspended the 2019 ranking due to technical upgrades.
In FT’s tenth annual ranking, the top three U.S. schools were, respectively, McCombs, George Washington University, and Bentley University. In commentary on the ranking, FT called attention to McCombs’ leading position, noting that “surveyed graduates praised the school for providing a robust immersion in business and finance.”
McCombs tied for 43rd place in the worldwide tally. The top spots went, respectively, to HEC Paris, ESCP Business School, and Skema Business School, all headquartered in France. FT’s higher education rankings are known for their global diversity, with 93 percent of the rated MSF programs located outside the United States.
FT’s methodology includes alumni input on salary and career progress, school diversity issues, alumni satisfaction, and international mobility. For the current ranking, FT surveyed the MSF graduates of 2018.
Among online media, the Texas MSF also enjoys top 10 status. The program hit No. 6 in the 2021 MSF ranking from the Financial Engineer Times, which listed 90 U.S. programs using student quality and employment data. McCombs is the only program nationwide to make the top 10 in both rankings.
