Undergraduate Research Assistant Student Spotlight

Dilan Patel

I’m Dilan, a senior studying management information systems through the Canfield Business Honors Program, along with pursuing a certificate in computer science. Through my URA, I work directly with Dr. Dave Harrison, associate dean for research at McCombs, building AI-enabled tools designed to make research more accessible and useful to students and faculty. I’ve had the opportunity to take tools from zero to one, and I’m now working on projects that could meaningfully change how research is brought into the classroom. This fall, I’m completing a co-op at AMD as a product development engineer, where I support master data management and enterprise-wide AI workflows. I also work with a startup named AUX Rideshare, applying the product sense, problem-solving, and execution skills I’ve developed through my URA. Long term, I hope to pursue product management or strategy roles at a startup or in big tech. Outside of work and school, I run a music events business in Austin, recently studied abroad in Hungary, and love going to the gym. Feel free to reach out at Dilan@utexas.edu.
