Fangchen Song

Fangchen Song is a Ph.D. candidate in information systems at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, advised by professor Ashish Agarwal. Her research examines how emerging technologies, particularly generative AI, reshape professional knowledge work and organizations. She studies how AI changes collaborative work and human value creation, and how organizations can adapt as AI capabilities evolve. Her research combines proprietary organizational data, large-scale field experiments, econometric methods, machine learning, and computational text analysis. She collaborates with organizations including Microsoft GitHub and KPMG to study generative AI in real-world work settings. Her work on generative AI and open-source software development is forthcoming in Information Systems Research, and her research on human-AI collaboration with KPMG has been featured in Harvard Business Review.
