Undergraduate Research Assistant Student Spotlight

Katy Rangarajan

My name is Katy, and I’m a junior studying finance and Business Honors Program with minors in MIS and Spanish. My work as an undergraduate research assistant (URA) in the McCombs Behavioral Lab has given me the opportunity to work under Dr. Dave Harrison, professors, and Ph.D. students on their research, from helping run hundreds of studies with McCombs students to organizing results and thinking through ways to improve research projects. What I enjoy most is seeing how small changes can shape how people behave, particularly in business settings. I’ve also explored this interest through my recent internships at Alvarez & Marsal and the Travis County District Attorney’s Office, where I developed my ability to recognize patterns, conduct research, and work with different types of people. In the future, I hope to combine my interests in finance and law, eventually attending law school. Outside of school, I’m passionate about community service and even helped organize UT Austin’s largest day of service. Also, I love music; I can sing, write songs, and play multiple instruments.
