Texas McCombs MBA Hits Businessweek’s Top 20
Full-time MBA program rises to rank 19 nationwide and ranks 6th among public schools
The Texas McCombs Full-Time MBA Program retook the top 20 in Bloomberg Businessweek’s 2024–25 assessment of the best business schools in the nation, rising two ranks to reach No. 19 in the country.
Among public schools, McCombs came in at No. 6, following Virginia (5), Michigan (8), the University of California at Berkeley (14), Georgia Tech (16), and the University of California at Los Angeles (18).
Propelling McCombs upward was a sharp rise in compensation, which is the weightiest component in the ranking, and is based on starting salary, percentage employed, percentage with bonus, size of bonus, alumni salary, and compensation-related questions. McCombs has been rising on this component for several years.
Now in its 23rd season, the Businessweek ranking has changed its methodology multiple times since its inception in 1988, but it has always centered heavily on student, alumni, and employer opinion.
The 2024–25 methodology addresses compensation (37.7%), the learning environment (25.5%), networking potential (18.6%), entrepreneurship (11.6%), and diversity (6.6%). The current assessment surveyed the Class of 2024, three years of alumni (graduates of 2016 through 2018), and employers who hired graduates with McCombs MBAs for full-time positions in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
