The University Securities Investment Team placed first in this month’s USC Value Investing Conference.

The McCombs School of Business team — Joseph Buschmann, BBA ’18; Bryan Goh, BBA ’19; Eric Sun, BBA, mathematics ’20; Nick Marchenko, BBA ’21; and Dhruv Dhuper, BBA ’21 — bested 19 other teams at the University of Southern California on April 6–7.

The team, funded by the Financial Education and Research Center, attributed its success to presentation skills gained in classes and USIT stock pitches.

The FERC offers hands-on training, says Kelly Kamm, the center’s director and distinguished finance senior lecturer. “McCombs students gain real-world skills in analyzing companies and exporting data through Bloomberg, FactSet and Capital IQ data feeds,” she says.
