Nathan Herrmann

Nathan Herrmann is a fifth-year student finishing his Ph.D. in accounting at McCombs. His research focuses on the institutions that hold individuals and firms accountable for financial misconduct, including securities enforcement agencies and corporate governance systems.

With this research, he aims to provide evidence that informs the public and is of practical value to policymakers, firms, and other researchers. His dissertation examines the effects of a broken-windows enforcement policy on white collar crime, specifically accounting fraud.

He also has several related projects co-written with his advisers and McCombs faculty members Matt Kubic, John McInnis, Laura Starks, and Sara Toynbee, which have been featured in media outlets including the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Bloomberg. He is currently on the academic job market and additional information — including his CV — is available at https://www.nherrmann.com/.
