Marcelino Chavez

Marcelino Chavez is a Ph.D. candidate in marketing at the McCombs School of Business. His research examines how marketing contributes to firm performance using various methods, including panel data econometrics, machine learning, and text analysis. He is working with Professor Leigh McAlister on two projects. One addresses the question of whether marketing is effective in B2B firms by integrating text analysis techniques with financial data. The second uses newly available data on executives’ work histories to estimate marketing’s influence within top management teams. Marcelino has industry experience in product management in Latin America. He is an American Marketing Association (AMA) Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium Fellow and has presented his work at AMA winter conferences, the 2025 European Marketing Academy Conference, Theory + Practice in Marketing, Marketing Strategy Meets Wall Street conferences, and the AMA Marketing Strategy Consortium.
