The Texas Master of Science in Finance (MSF) at the McCombs School of Business landed at No. 6 among U.S. programs in the Financial Times (FT) 2020 ranking of MSF pre-experience degrees worldwide.

This marks the second time for the Texas MSF to rise in domestic rank. The intensive 10-month program landed at No. 8 in its first year to participate (2017) and rose to No. 7 in 2018. FT suspended the 2019 ranking due to technical upgrades.

In FT’s ninth annual ranking, the top three U.S. schools were, respectively, MIT, Bentley University, and the University of Rochester.

McCombs placed 48th place in the worldwide tally. The top spots went, respectively, to HEC Paris, ESCP Business School, and Skema Business School, all headquartered in France. FT’s higher education rankings are known for their global diversity, with 86 percent of the rated MSF programs located outside the United States.

FT’s methodology includes alumni input on salary and career progress, school diversity issues, and international experience and research. For the current ranking, FT surveyed the MSF graduates of 2017.

Among online media, the Texas MSF also enjoys top 10 status. The program hit No. 7 in the 2020 MSF ranking from the Financial Engineer Times, which listed 93 U.S. programs using student quality and employment data. McCombs is one of only four programs nationwide (and the sole public school) to make the top 10 in both rankings.
