Stefani Sereboff, Chief Career and Alumni Engagement Officer, leads efforts that bring together career education, coaching, and employer engagement to ensure students and alumni are prepared not just for their first role, but also for every chapter that follows.

What’s the most important career resource or program you’ve helped launch for McCombs students and alumni, and what makes it unique? 

Our career education and coaching teams work in partnership with our employer engagement teams to evolve our career education curriculum regularly — we aim to align with hiring expectations in the job market. One of the important updates we’ve made over the past year is updating our career education framework to reflect a continuous career journey for life versus steps to an initial job. This update was critical — it allows students and alumni to use this framework for life. It highlights the importance of a multistage approach to a career: discovery, connection, strategy, and engagement to accomplish individual career goals.

How do you foster connections between alumni and current students to support mentoring and career development? 

Our alumni and employer engagement teams work closely with our career education and coaching teams to host a variety of on-campus and virtual events. Our events highlight industry education, employer introductions, one-on-one meetings, alumni career stories, and networking throughout the entire year across all undergraduate and graduate programs. We offer a virtual alumni and student community, known as McCombs Connect, to all McCombs-degreed students and alumni to foster connections through formal mentoring programs, community interest groups, and one-on-one connections. Our goal is to develop many connections for our students and alumni to learn from one another and create a network for life. 

How has your team’s work translated into career success for students and alumni?

Our career education and coaching teams hear so many career success stories every year. Whether it’s students starting a career, making career enhancements and changes, or exploring next steps, our team is there to support every step. We work with our students and alumni to create customized career plans, provide guidance, and support their career goals through preparation, practice, and engagement. We are proud of all of our student and alumni career success stories at McCombs.
