Dallas Real Estate Event Feb. 13
Texas McCombs will host panel on the energy transition during its annual Business Outlook
Registration is open for the 2025 Business Outlook event in Dallas, bringing together real estate experts for a critical conversation around the industry’s future, Feb. 13 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas — Dallas Branch.
Hosted by the University of Texas McCombs School of Business and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the event features a panel discussion — “Mapping the Future of Real Estate in Today’s Economy” — moderated by Ethan Burris, Texas McCombs senior associate dean for academic affairs. McCombs alumni and the Dallas business community are invited; breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m., with the panel discussion at 8:30 a.m.
Panelists are Laila Assanie, a senior business economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and researcher on regional economic issues; John Goff (UT BBA ’77), the founder and managing principal of Goff Capital Partners, co-founder of Crescent Real Estate, and McCombs School of Business advisory council member; Christopher Goff (UT MBA ’20), the senior managing director, head of capital formation, and member of the Investment Committee for Crescent Real Estate; and Greg Hallman (UT Ph.D. ’96), professor of finance instruction at the McCombs School of Business, director of the Texas Real Estate Center, and faculty director of the John C. Goff Student Real Estate Investment Fund at McCombs.
The group will discuss several issues vital to understanding the risks and opportunities in today’s real estate sector, and the unique growth trajectories of Austin, Fort Worth, and Dallas. They will explore population booms and development trends influencing each city, the increasing challenge of housing affordability amid the national housing shortage, the potential for AI-driven economic shifts to redefine real estate investment, and trends in sustainability and climate-related property risks.
The Dallas event is the second in a three-part series. It follows a discussion in Houston on energy, and the series concludes with a panel on fintech in Austin on Feb. 19.
“These vibrant dialogues are designed to inspire, educate, and empower,” Burris said. “We’re glad to amplify the voices of leaders who can help businesses navigate the uncertainties of industry with informed confidence.”
