Brouillette served as energy secretary from 2019 to 2021. He joined the Edison Electric Institute as president and CEO-elect in October. The center honored Evans with the 2023 Award for Outstanding Excellence in the Energy Industry during its eighth annual symposium in September.

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Energy Center held its eighth annual symposium in September.

The symposium examined how recent geopolitical and economic developments show that an “all of the above” energy approach is needed to meet energy and economic realities. Topics included global hydrocarbon markets, growing electricity demand, carbon capture and storage, and geopolitics. At the symposium’s dinner, UT President Jay Hartzell announced that the Cockrell School of Engineering would be joining the KBH Energy Center. The partnership is expected to reinforce the center’s technical expertise and support the expansion of programs for engineering students and industry leaders. The center was created by the University as a joint effort between the McCombs School of Business and the UT School of Law.
