UT Austin Hosts Corporate Sustainability Leaders on Panel
The Austin community is invited to ‘Impact Chat: Demystifying Sustainability for Genuine Progress’ on Oct. 14 about how sustainability leaders cut through challenges and noise to drive real change

Local leaders will discuss how corporations can turn sustainability goals into tangible results during a dinner and panel discussion Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. in Rowling Hall’s Crum Auditorium on The University of Texas at Austin campus. Hosted by UT’s Global Sustainability Leadership Institute (GSLI), this event is open to the public, and registration is free. The event is produced in collaboration with the McCombs MBA chapter of Net Impact and is moderated by communication firm Edelman’s Austin leader, Nick Nelson.
The event is part of the GSLI’s semesterly Impact Chats series. Attendees will learn about how corporate sustainability managers and executives navigate uncertainty, identify material concerns in a sea of voices, and lead their teams to foster regenerative practices that improve triple bottom lines.
Panelists include celebrated leaders in regenerative business:
- Mark Newton, Head of Corporate Sustainability for Samsung
- Caitlin Leibert, Vice President of Sustainability for Whole Foods Market
- Oliver Campbell, Director & Distinguished Engineer for Dell Technologies
Managing Director Meeta Kothare said, “At the GSLI, we are committed to both knowledge and practice. Conversations like these show us how businesses can drive innovation and how leading companies are creating value through sustainability.”
The institute’s public Impact Chats have reached nearly 1,500 community members and students. Although each Chat addresses a different aspect of business sustainability, all educate attendees on a timely topic, encourage networking among students and Austin impact players, and inspire innovation around social and environmental challenges in the Austin community. The events also help showcase the daily efforts of Texas companies, nonprofits, and policymakers to lead meaningful change through sustainability initiatives.
