High Marks for Hildebrand MBA at Texas McCombs
The Hildebrand suite of MBA programs continues its strong performance and leads the nation in Information Systems in U.S. News & World Report ranking

The McCombs School of Business Full-Time MBA Program hit No. 18 out of 134 ranked programs in the 2026 release of the U.S. News & World Report’s survey of the nation’s best graduate schools of business, the most competitive such ranking in the industry. Among public schools, the program tied for fourth place with the University of California, Los Angeles.
This marks the 22nd consecutive year for the Hildebrand MBA to land in the top 20 among all schools, and in the top five among public institutions.
McCombs took first place among Texas schools, followed by The University of Texas at Dallas (No. 23), Rice University (No. 29), and Southern Methodist University, which is tied with Texas A&M University at No. 36.
Working Professional MBA No. 6
In the part-time MBA rankings, McCombs tied the University of Michigan at No. 6 out of 245 noted programs. The working professional MBA programs at McCombs, which include the Texas Evening MBA, the Texas MBA at Houston, and the Texas MBA at Dallas/Fort Worth, have held top 10 status for the past 17 years and are the only Texas programs to do so.
Executive MBA No. 16
The Texas Executive MBA landed at No. 16, tying with Emory University and the University of Southern California, among 126 schools tallied in the executive rankings. The program has enjoyed top 20 status for 22 of the past 24 years.
Business Specialty Rankings
For the first time, McCombs took the No. 1 spot for Information Systems, tying with Carnegie Mellon University for the honor. The tied schools bested the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for the lead position. McCombs has held a top five ranking in IS for 33 of the past 34 years.
Of the 11 business specialties ranked this year, McCombs took top 10 honors in four of them and top 20 in eight.
Information Systems: No. 1 (historic high, 33rd year in top five)
Accounting: No. 6 (33rd year in top 10)
Real Estate: No. 8 (sixth year in top 10)
Business Analytics: No. 9 (seventh year in top 10)
Production / Operations: No. 12 (seventh year in top 15)
Marketing: No. 14 (eighth year in top 15)
Finance: No. 15 (15th year in the top 15)
Management: No. 15 (seventh year in the top 15)
U.S. News completely overhauled the methodology for specialty rankings this year by reducing the voting power of each school from two to one, and by switching to a Likert scale evaluation. Schools now cluster tightly, and ties are commonplace. U.S. News also reduced the number of specialties, eliminating nonprofit and project management from this year’s ranking.
