Minghong Yuan is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in information systems at the McCombs School of Business. He is advised by Wen Wen and Indranil Bardhan. His research lies at the intersection of information systems, AI, and healthcare, with a particular interest in how digital technologies shape clinical decision-making, organizational coordination, and healthcare value. His dissertation consists of three studies. The first study examines how health information sharing between hospitals can mitigate disparate impacts in physician diagnosis across racial groups. The second study examines the influence of IT-enabled digital capabilities on the value of healthcare delivered when hospitals are acquired by private equity firms. The final chapter of his dissertation investigates how the use of information-generating AI for diagnosis of patients with cardiovascular disease affects physicians’ diagnostic decision-making, including decision quality and clinical workflow efficiency. Together, these studies share a common theme: to better understand how AI and digital health technologies can improve the value and efficiency of care delivery in complex healthcare systems.
