Ph.D. Student Spotlight
Ankur Jaiswal

Ankur Jaiswal is a Ph.D. candidate in information systems, advised by Hüseyin Tanriverdi. He previously did research at the Indian School of Business, the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and a think tank under the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. His research examines how information systems shape the performance of knowledge workers, and thereby the value organizations create, through three questions: (1) how deterministic enterprise systems and probabilistic AI systems manage complexity and create value as a knowledge worker’s portfolio grows more complicated through its diverse components; (2) as continuous innovation adds complexity to reliable systems, when the IT failures that emerge destroy value, and when they prove serendipitous; and (3) where knowledge work is delegated to agentic AI, how the framework and open-source system he designs for durable provenance make verification affordable, curb sycophancy, and let human-AI collaboration create value. He independently established a research partnership with a U.S. insurance customer relationship management platform, with access to its proprietary system, clickstream-trace, and real user monitoring data. He also collaborates with the co-founders of an AI startup. More details and his CV are at https://ankurjaiswal-aj.github.io/.
