Texas Business of Sports Summit Lets Pros, Students Share Ideas

Students and professionals gathered in October to exchange ideas and build connections during the daylong Texas Business of Sports Summit. The conference is the premier event of the Texas Business of Sports Institute and brings together some of the top minds in the industry. The 2023 gathering featured ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro, NCAA Southeastern Conference Commissioner Greg Sankey, ESPN SportsCenter anchor Elle Duncan, and Todd Boehly, chairman and CEO of Eldridge Industries.

The Texas Business of Sports Summit was held in October.

During panel discussions, Sankey and McCombs alumna Fran Harris, MSTC ’18, talked about the future of college sports. Harris led the undefeated UT women’s basketball team that was the 1986 national champion. She was an ESPN analyst and co-founded The Athletic Club. Later in the day, Boehly and Ishwara Chrein, former president of the Chicago Fire FC, covered the international growth of major sports. The summit started with a student networking session, and students made several presentations during the day.
